A Bucketful of Mangoes

When I was last in St. Lucia, I decided that my next trip there would be during mango season. Little did I know that I would be back in St. Lucia soon.

Soon after returning from St. Lucia, I learned that one of my aunts was sick. By May, I got the dreaded call from another aunt that she passed away. I got a last minute trip through London on Virgin Atlantic to attend the funeral.

I spent about 10 days in St. Lucia. I got a chance to celebrate my aunt’s life and visit with family and catch up with some friends.

The Julie mango tree was full of mangoes. I ate at least three a day. I went to visit a cousin and walk through the farm. Along the way, we picked many mangoes. Her shirt was full, and we enjoyed a juicy one while we walked. When I commented on how full of mangoes I was, my aunt mentioned that mango season is a bad one for diabetics, as some of them sit to eat a bucketful. With two mangoes, I was full so I find that hard to believe.

I came back to Prague with a stomach ache from all the chopped mangoes I ate at airports and one the plane. I didn’t eat them all at once, but I did eat a bucketful worth of mangoes on this trip.
