Relaxing spa Holiday IN Turkey

I recently went to Turkey for a spa holiday at Richmond Nua. As part of the plan, I worked out with a trainer twice a day. All meals were included in my rate.

Dining at Richmond Nua

Guests are invited to dine wearing their spa robes, so the atmosphere is very relaxed. I didn’t actually see anyone doing this, although I did dine wearing my spa slippers. I’d forgotten my slippers at home and only had running shoes with me.

The dietician prepared a menu for me based on my primarily pescatarian eating habits. Meals looked sparse, but they were amazingly satisfying. That made me realize that sometimes I eat to satisfy my eyes more than my body.

I found my stay very relaxing, although I continued to work about half of the time. It seemed to be low season, with the hotel not being too busy. I stayed in the deluxe room, the lowest tier. The room was spacious. The bed was firm, and there was a selection of pillows, so I had no trouble getting comfortable. The room itself could use a little love. The hotel is non-smoking but there was what looked like cigarette burns on the couch. I also forgot to mention a flickering night light to the front desk.

The bathroom had a handheld showerhead and a rain shower. It also had all the amenities you could want: a comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, soap, body wash, body lotion, conditioner, a sewing kit, toiletry set, nail file. There was also a bathrobe and slippers. Each room was supposed to have a spa bag with a kimono robe and spa slippers, but there wasn’t one in my room. Instead, I asked for a kimono and slippers from the desk at the spa.

The best part of the room was the balcony. I had a partial view of Lake Sapanca, and could watch the sunrise from my bed. That felt incredibly decadent.

Richmond Spa Holiday

Of course a spa holiday needs a spa! Guests have unlimited access to the spa during open hours, and 20% off all wellness treatments. There was always fresh tea brewing at the bar beside the spa. My favorites were the ginger and hibiscus teas.

The spa has a nice variety of stations. There is a turkish bath, a pool, a jacuzzi, both dry and steam saunas, relaxation rooms, a salt inhalation room, and a cold water shower with rain function. There were instructions at each station with the recommended duration. You could also get a spa booklet from the front desk to take with you. There are towels throughout the space and showers so that you can refresh at any point in the circuit.

From the wellness treatments, I had a massage, a scrub and a facial. I thought the facial was fantastic. The massage was a bit light, which is unusual for me, as I usually have to ask the therapist to reduce the pressure. The therapists were all nice and friendly. I usually bring my own music/meditation with me during treatments; there was the typical spa sounds playing.

Although there were some events happening at the hotel, e.g. some meetings, they didn’t disturb me. The spa did get busy on weekends with local visitors, so I found weekday visits much more enjoyable.

Richmond Nua at Lake Sapanca has everything you need for a relaxing and wonderful spa holiday: spa treatments, great spa, delicious food, comfortable rooms. Guests have to be at least 14 years old to stay.
