Catherine House BOOK REVIEW

Catherine House is a book by Elisabeth Thomas. Elisabeth Thomas tells the story of a private college of the same name. Students are accepted to the school if they are willing to leave their whole life behind. It’s not clear what else is required although many of the students are very smart, smart enough to join the elite research team that study plasma, the building blocks that makes up all matter.

The story is very slow to reveal what’s happening at the school. The author gives up an in-depth look into the life of Ines and her friends. We get glimpses into their backgrounds but very little information. Very little happens that is interesting. I kept reading, waiting for the big reveal, waiting for some conflict to happen.

When the big reveal happens, I am a little surprised by it. There was a lot of foreshadowing in the book though so that made the surprise a bit predictable as well.

Final Verdict on Catherine House

This book was an interesting read. It explores the concepts of choice, fate, power. It’s in the same genre as Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. Similarly, we have little information of the back story of the characters, who they are and how they were “chosen”. It’s a significant difference though that some graduates of Catherine House can return into the world.

I give this book 3 stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is a review of the book. If you have read itk and don’t mind spoilers, you can read The Ending of Catherine House as well.
